As the morning wore on and the hour of the meeting approached the crowd swelled as more demonstrators turned up
Those who were able to secure some of the very limited number of entrance tickets to the chamber or the meeting room upstairs with an audio link start heading in for the start of the meeting

The majority of councillors ignored the wishes of the electorate and voted to proceed with a scheme that Welwyn Hatfield MP (and now senior Conservative party member) Grant Shapps publicly declared was "madness" years before. However, the fight against it is far from over.
