Welcome ...
...to the unofficial website for Hatfield, Hertfordshire, UK
Hatfield is a small town with a big place in history – not just in Great Britain but around the world.
Royalty, nobility, political leaders, German spies, British double-agents, aviators, film-stars, directors, musicians, authors, gardeners...have all contributed to Hatfield's amazing history.
Dating back to before the Norman Conquest in 1066, Hatfield played an important part in Tudor, Victorian, Aviation and Rail history, and contributed in many other areas of human endeavour.
Once the largest parish in Hertfordshire and the name of the district, today Hatfield is part of the Borough of Welwyn Hatfield. Generally thought of as a post-war New Town (although that was built on site of the New Town of the 1850s), Hatfield continues to reinvent itself.
