According to Royal Navy records there were 139 souls on board HMS Tweed (K250) when she was sunk on 7 January 1944. Eighty-three of those officers and men were killed in or shortly after the sinking (although one died from his wounds nearly 3-weeks later) and are recorded on the Roll of Honour page.

Listed below are the names of the 56 men that survived that ordeal – nearly all sustained mental and physical injuries in the process. Given that most were already adults at the time and over 65 years have passed since few, if any, are still with us today. However, their memory lives on.
Please note: there are variations in the crew list supplied by Royal Navy records and the Board of Inquiry report. Variations in rank may be due to the Navy list being contemporary to the period of the sinking and those shown as holding temporary and / or acting positions may have received later confirmation of rank (or further promotion). Other variations may be due to inaccurate recording during the war, misspellings, poor handwriting or errors made when transferring the data from paper to an electronic format. Most of these have been resolved however it is possible that there may be others.
